Maple wood, cotton, synthetic hair and 14 KT gold Various dimensions Paradise is the term used to describe a place or state of timeless harmony and beauty. The word originates from the old Iranian Language Avestan, which used the noun Pairi-daēza to portray “a wall enclosing a garden or orchard”. The enclosed abode has been visualized throughout history, mainly connected to the Garden of Eden which symbolises the creation of the human form and their fall from grace. Whether connected to religion or not, the term Paradise echoes Utopian realms of humanity living at one with nature, sharing their tope with every exotic creature and plant imaginable. Paradise is an ongoing research into wearable objects that in their shape, construction and movement reference a natural origin, morphing human, animal and plant into new creatures of paradise.

Atelier Frank Verkade Frank Verkade is a Dutch designer exploring the intimate relationship between the body and design objects. His handmade wearables are shaped directly on the body, which fuctions as both a scene of display as well as the origin of their form. The designs reflect upon anatomy, connecting the human, animal and plantae kingdoms. They dominate in their shape and fit, forcing the wearer to explore undiscovered experiences and postures.
